Stop Worrying About Sales and Build Relationships.

When was the last time you saw a billboard, TV or a print ad and said to yourself, "Wow that brand really cares about me and I am going to buy that product?" Let me guess: Never. What is stopping brands from reaching out to consumers personally and actually helping them out?

Most big corporations are generally risk-averse and like to play it safe, when it comes to engaging with customers in public. Giant billboards, TV/radio ads or print ads on newspapers/magazines are all safe ways to market to people. It does not involve any direct interaction with customers and hence very little chance of a negative reaction, but the problem is consumers of 2013 are all blinded by traditional ads. Revenue from traditional advertisement channels are at an all time low.

It's important to not only look at social media as a channel to get your message out there but also as a way to truly build meaningful relationships with potential and existing customers. Here are two ways that your company can make the most of your social media marketing efforts.

Look beyond direct brand mentions.

Instead of simply monitoring and taking a passive approach to social media, businesses needs to start being aggressive. Everyday there are thousands of people inquiring about potential purchases on Twitter but the brands are overlooking these conversations.

Watching for brand mentions and measuring sentiment is great but it doesn't always lead to results. For example, in the U.S. alone there are about 6,500 posts on Twitter everyday where people are talking about buying a car and asking for suggestions about car make/model. This statistic shows a significant number of opportunities for every single major carmaker.

Unfortunately, most brands are currently happy to only listen to their brand mentions and respond to customer service issues, which significantly limit the potential of the brand.

Start a conversation naturally.

Many brands simply do not know how to start the conversation. They think that because a person did not mention the brand specifically or the company's Twitter handle that it is not proper to start a conversation. An important thing to keep in mind is that sparking up a conversation on Twitter is sort of like dating. The first thing you say to someone you find attractive or somewhat interesting isn't going to be “will you marry me?" Instead, you're going to enter that conversation with a sincere smile and start to nurture the relationship with some meaningful conversation.

Sparking up conversations as a brand works the exact same way. Brands should avoid seeming too pushy so the best bet is to engage with people without going for the immediate sale. In some situations a customer will be further down the buying process and in those cases; it's perfectly fine to go in for the sell. But when that's not the case brands need to focus on establishing trust and validation. If you look at the network structure of Twitter it is indeed ideal for having a conversation and not just "pushing" one way content to your followers.

For example, if a potential customer tweets "Thinking of getting a car this summer. Any suggestions?" This person is not talking directly to any specific car company, but if a representative from any major car brand reached out to him and just offered a suggestion, it might be well received. The best case is he will engage back and go into a local dealership of the brand that engaged with him. The worst case is he or she will ignore the Tweet. But even if it doesn't result in making a sale, that person might broadcast the conversation to their followers by retweeting or liking it.

This type of interaction is known as "earned media" and is an extremely powerful form of "word of mouth" marketing. The power of engaging with your customers is endless, but the core lies at simply getting closer to them and genuinely helping them out. Yes, it will take time and effort to engage with people one-to-one, yes you will not start counting the dollars from the first engagement, but what you'll do is set an everlasting impression in the mind of the consumer, in a way no TV/Billboard/Print Ad ever could. What are you waiting for? It's time to get into the game.

Stop Chasing Sales and Get Content Right.

Here are two startling facts about online marketing. The first: 70 percent of consumers prefer getting to know a company via content marketing rather than ads, but (and this is the surprising part) brands spend more on advertising than on content such as articles, according to Content Plus. The second fact: 91 percent of B2B marketers employ some sort of content marketing, but just 36 percent of them believe that content to be effective, according to a study by Marketing Profs and Content Marketing Institute.
Why are those facts startling? Because while content is increasingly a factor in both consumer and business decisions, brands are either uneasy with their content-marketing efforts or are missing the boat entirely.
Why does content matter? Consider how you approach a purchase: Whether you're looking to buy a lawn mower or a health plan, you likely Google options, read online reviews and recommendations and maybe poll friends on Facebook or Twitter. (In fact, that's exactly what I did when I wanted to buy a digital camera.)
Google calls this the "Zero Moment of Truth," which acknowledges that people arrive at a business through multiple online sources. Unlike the old system, in which brands tried to attract us via advertising and other outreach efforts, we are now being led directly to brands via our personal and business relationships.
In today's search-and-social world, businesses should focus on enabling interactions instead of chasing transactions. The key is to create helpful content that's seeded with honest empathy.
Answer Questions

"My golden rule of content marketing is to simply answer questions," says Marcus Sheridan, who overhauled the marketing strategy at his Warsaw, Va.-based company, River Pools and Spas. Instead of his previous method of focusing on radio, TV and pay-per-click advertising, he shifted his efforts toward generating sales through informational blog posts and videos.
His success hinged on the nature of that content: He was willing to answer online the tough questions most pool installers (like car dealers and other purveyors of big-ticket items) want to avoid until they meet a customer face-to-face, such as specifics about costs and problems that may come up.
The lesson from Sheridan is this: Too many companies create corporate-centric, rather than customer-centric, content. The former is about you; the latter is about what you do for your customer--a subtle yet critical shift. A good lens through which to view any content you produce involves asking yourself whether your customers will be grateful for this content. In effect, will they thank you for marketing to them? If the answer is yes, then you have gold.
By answering questions, you are addressing specific pain points, demonstrating that you understand customers' specific issues and concerns. Sheridan earned trust among would-be pool buyers. Decide what you wish to subtly communicate to generate leads for your business.
Watch Your Voice and Tone
The way in which you articulate empathy is crucial. Voice refers to the personality you convey in your content, and it's unique to every company.
I'm a fan of websites that communicate in simple, direct language. For example, I like how the U.K. government's site (gov.uk) presents complex policies and guidelines in a straightforward manner, in accordance with its published style guide. Any business can learn a lot from a government agency that suggests its web writers be, among other things:
  • clear and concise
  • brisk but not terse
  • incisive (friendliness can lead to a lack of precision) yet human (not a faceless machine)
  • serious but not pompous
(Side note: I smiled at the style guide's suggestion to avoid "Americanisms. You 'fill in' a form, not 'fill out' a form.")
In addition to voice, consider tone. The voice of your website might be snarky, upbeat or fun, but there may be areas where the tone should shift. Customer-service pages--places customers visit when they have a problem--might drop a snarky tone in favor of one of helpful concern.
The search-and-social landscape creates enormous opportunities. The question becomes: What are you doing to take advantage?

How to Make Money Online NOW? + FREE EBook

How To Really Make Money with Clickbank

Picking the right product on Clickbank can mean the difference between making little or no money, and stuffing your bank account full of cash. This is especially true once you start building up bigger traffic or list numbers - a simple change of product to something that converts even 1% better could result in hundreds, if not thousands of extra dollars a month!

Rather than bore you with the theory of picking Clickbank products that sell, let's work through a practical example!

Head over to the Clickbank Marketplace

From here it's time to select a product category. I'm going to go with health and fitness, because I know there are a lot of products in this niche. I also know that this is a very profitable niche in general. Remember that on Clickbank, "health and fitness" covers a wide variety of products from dieting, weight loss, and muscle gain, through to skin care, eye health, and more.

Clickbank has kindly sorted the products in this category by "popularity".

Clickbank determine a product's popularity based on a whole heap of different factors. When it comes to finding Clickbank products that sell, you can usually be pretty sure that a highly popular product is going to sell well.

However, the "popularity" rating is a bit too arbitrary for my liking. The most popular product in a category might not necessarily be the biggest seller either. That's why it's better to sort by "gravity" - use the "Sort results by:" function to do this.

Now in case you're wondering, Clickbank's Gravity score is a measure of how many affiliates have made sales of any given product during a set timeframe.

Clickbank they provide the following definition:

Number of distinct affiliates who earned a commission by promoting the vendor's products during the past 12 weeks. This is not an actual number of affiliates. For each affiliate an amount between 0.1 and 1.0 is added to the result, depending on when his/her last transaction occurred. More recent transactions are given a higher value.

So The Truth about Abs has a Clickbank Gravity score of 364.67 (at the time of writing) this is a very high gravity score, and means that hundreds of different affiliates are making sales of this product. Obviously it sells very well!

However, gravity score this high means that there will be fierce competition to promote the product. You could also be up against "power affiliates" who can afford to spend lots on PPC, or even give away their own bonuses with a Clickbank product in order to encourage more sales.

I'm not saying that promoting high gravity products is impossible; otherwise they wouldn't be high gravity in the first place! However, unless you have the resources and determination to really promote well then you are better off trying to carve out your slice of a less competitive pie.

Thankfully, the Clickbank Marketplace offers a great little tool for finding Clickbank products that sell well (without too much competition)

It's called the "Filters" tool, and it allows you to filter your search results based on a variety of factors, such as:

Product gravity - You can select a minimum and maximum gravity score. In an evergreen niche such as the muscle gain/fat loss example we're using today you would want to avoid any products with a gravity score of less than 20, as this would indicate it's not a highly-converting product. In micro niches, however, you might want to consider low gravity products.

Initial $ per sale - How much money you are going to earn up front.

Avg Rebill Total - How much, on average, you will earn from any recurring commission products such as up sell newsletters. Remember that not all products offer recurring commissions.

Date added to marketplace - Pretty self-explanatory, but shows when the product was added to the Marketplace.

Although I didn't cover every available filter, you should get the picture by now that the "Filters" function is extremely useful.

But anyway, the main thing we want to do is find Clickbank products that sell well. To do this we are going to use the gravity filter to find a list of products that have at least several affiliates making sales, but don't have hundreds of heavy-hitting competitors.

All you need to do is set the minimum Gravity to 20, and the maximum to 99, using the convenient little sliders:

By setting the minimum Gravity to 20 we are basically eliminating any products in the Health & Fitness niche that aren't PROVEN sellers. The last thing you want to do is build up a website full of content that pre-sells a product which doesn't convert! In an evergreen niche there are always going to be loads of products to pick from, so it's really important that you choose a Clickbank product which has a proven track record of selling well.

At the most basic level, this is a very proven way of finding Clickbank products that sell in any given niche. However, it always pays to refine and improve the method a little bit - NOBODY ever regretted spending a few minutes extra on product research. The time you spend now will directly translate into earning more money down the track!

Here's how you can refine your product selection even more with Clickbank:

Make sure your product choice is an exact match to your niche. The Health & Fitness niche offers a few brilliant examples of this with the various fat loss, muscle gain, and weight loss programs around. If you run a weight loss website then selling a muscle gain product (even if it's an absolutely awesome product) probably won't net you very high conversions. Why?

Because a muscle gain product is likely to be aimed at men looking to bulk up and get stronger, whereas the weight loss niche is largely women looking to lose weight. The closer you can match your choice of product to your niche topic, the better.

Ask for review access. Let's say that you find a product which looks really good in terms of sales page and testimonials. It could all be very slick and professional, but you still want to make sure that the product itself is up to scratch. You can't judge a book by its cover, and you can't judge an eBook by its sales page. Therefore, get in contact with the product owner and ask for review access. Don't be demanding or rude, but instead do your best to convince them that you are a serious affiliate, and you want to make sure your customers are being looked after.

Scope out the sales page. Don't just pick the first product with a gravity score of 20-99 that looks good and roll with that; make sure you are seriously inspecting every product you consider promoting. Is the pitch page professional, with strong calls to action, good testimonials, and benefit-driven copy that encourage you to purchase? If not, you will probably want to keep looking. My favorite rule of thumb is this - a great sales page will make you feel good, even if you didn't buy.

Read honest reviews of products. Although you don't actually own the products you're promoting, if you refer people to junk products your reputation will be harmed (not to mention you'll suffer the cruel fate of Clickbank refund requests) Therefore it pays to seek out honest, unbiased reviews of the products you are planning to promote. Look for discussion boards/forums and blogs that discuss your products in an honest manner. If a product “stinks” doesn’t be afraid to look for an alternative; this could save you a lot of hassle down the track.

That's how to find Clickbank products that sell. However, even more important than picking the right product is choosing a hot niche. If you jump into the right niche then you will never run out of things to promote, and you will make far more money (which is what affiliate marketing is all about, at the end of the day)

Is Paid Serveys Sites Scam?

How Paid Surveys Work:

The paid survey process is fairly straightforward. You sign up with a paid survey site, and complete a member profile. Then, they send you an e-mail any time they have a survey that matches your profile. A typical e-mail invitation will include an estimate of how long the survey will take to complete, specify how you'll be compensated for your time (if you qualify), and provide a link to the survey. Expect to spend 15-20 minutes per survey on average.

Payment for Surveys:

Payment for surveys can vary widely from site to site and from survey to survey. Expect to be compensated one of three ways: with cash (anywhere from $1 to $50 per survey), with points that can be redeemed for prizes, or with sweepstakes entries. In some instances you may also be rewarded with new products to try.

How to Avoid Survey Scams:

While there are a lot of reputable survey sites on the web, there are also a lot of not-so-reputable sites. Avoid any survey site that:

Requires you to pay a membership fee.

Guarantees you a set income.

Does not make clear how you'll be rewarded for your participation.

Asks for too much personal information – you shouldn't have to give out your Social Security Number, credit card number or your bank account information
Does not post a privacy policy.

Sells member information to third parties.

Where to Find Reputable Survey Companies:

While a simple web search for "paid surveys" will turn up lots of opportunities, it won't necessarily turn up the most reputable opportunities. For that, it's best to trust the opinion of experienced survey-takers. Here's where to find them:

Get Cash For Surveys - This are is survey site that I use and recommend,This website allows survey-takers to rate survey sites across a range of criterion: speed of payment, reliability of website (doesn't crash during surveys), quality of customer service, recruiting practices, adherence to privacy standards, etc. It then uses this data to rank the sites, and posts the top 10 survey sites on its homepage. SurveyPolice also allows users to file complaints against survey sites, and attempts to remedy them.

Paid Surveys At Home- This widely respected website provides a database of "the best" paid survey sites based on pay and other criteria, See which survey sites other Frugal Living readers recommend.
Tips to Maximize Your Survey Earnings:
1. Sign up for several survey sites to increase your chance of getting surveys.
2. Respond to survey invitations promptly – space usually fills up fast
3. Keep your profile up to date. It's used to determine which surveys you qualify for.

Disclaimer: Since this article is about surveys, you are likely to see ads for survey sites featured on the page. Do not assume these companies are legitimate, without first researching them.

Where To Submit Your Articles?

If you are an article marketer and write well, instead of wasting your time submitting your articles to article directories, you should give serious consideration to submitting to authority sites.
Why? Stay with me, I’m getting to that.
Question: So, what exactly is an authority site?
Answer: Definitions vary, but my own personal definition of an authority site is “a site that is linked to and respected by thousands of people who often reference its material.”

For example, for Internet Marketing news and events, IMNewsWatch would be considered an authority site. In the SEO and Internet Marketing worlds, authority sites would include sites like SearchEngineJournal, SiteProNews, WebProNews, PromotionWorld, CopyBlogger, SearchEngineLand, MarketingProfs and ProBlogger just to name a few.
And while some sites enjoy more authority than others, the two common denominators are, the sites are all highly-respected, and they all have a large and loyal following.
Following are 8 reasons why should you submit your articles to authority sites:
1. Respect
While you may be proud of having your articles accepted by article directories, it’s really no great accomplishment. Why? Because most article directories will accept articles from just about anyone – regardless of how poorly written they are. On the other hand, getting your articles published by the aforementioned authority sites is something to write home about. Why? Because those sites are highly-respected and have a much higher publishing standard.
2. Article Directory Oblivion

When you submit your article to article directories, chances are, your article will get buried among the thousands of other article submissions. And unless you get lucky and your articles happen to get found among the masses, and published by a popular newsletter or website, they will forever live in article directory oblivion, getting viewed every now and then.
3. The Viral Factor

I stated previously that authority sites enjoy a large and loyal following. So how does that benefit you? If an authority site publishes your articles, it’s probably because your articles have value, meaning they’re interesting, useful and/or entertaining. That is exactly the type of content that readers will pass along to others via tweet, Facebook, e-mail etc.
4. The Power

When you submit your articles to authority sites, you have the power to pick and choose what sites you want to submit to. On the other hand, when you submit your articles to article directories, you surrender that power. Once submitted to an article directory, your articles are available to be published by anyone. That means your articles have the very real potential of being published by low-quality sites, which could effectively damage your site’s reputation with the search engines.

5. Diminished Link Value

One of the great by-products of article marketing is inbound links. If you write quality content, more than likely, you will attract quality inbound links. Unfortunately, many writers who submit to article directories aren’t aware article directories have had diminished link value for years. That’s why mega-popular, monolithic article directories like EzineArticles, Buzzle and Associated Content were so heavily penalized by the Panda update. Over the years, they became notorious for the amount of low-quality content they contained. Because they accepted articles from just about anyone – regardless of how poorly written or shallow the articles were.

6. Greater Exposure

Authority sites not only depend on quality content for their very existence, like the shark in the movie “Jaws”, they also devour content rapidly. As such, they’re constantly in need of quality content infusions. If you submit your articles to authority sites and prove yourself to be a trusted and reliable source of content, they will be much more apt to feature your articles on a regular basis – thereby increasing your exposure. This will not only enhance your reputation, but your bottom line as well.
7. Greater Opportunities

There’s an old saying, “Birds of a feather flock together.” What does that mean? It means people of similar taste, character or background tend to associate with one another, or like the same things. That holds true both online and offline. Online, individuals of discerning taste tend to gravitate to high-quality content and websites (i.e., authority sites).
And since I’ve been submitting my articles to authority sites, I’ve lost count of the number of joint venture opportunities I’ve been offered. I generally turn them down because my plate is quite full for the foreseeable future. But that’s not really the point. The point is, the opportunities were offered because of the respect and exposure I received from having my articles published on authority sites.
8. Enhanced Perception

If you consistently write quality articles that are factually accurate and help people, you will be perceived as an expert in your field – provided you really are an expert. But while what you write is important, where your articles are published is even more important.
Having your articles published on authority sites will only enhance your reputation as an expert. And with expert status comes increased income. Expert status will give you the ability to charge higher fees for your products and services. And if you are really good at what you do and provide good value, your clients will refer you to other clients – further increasing your income.

“Whats great is that we can auto adjust exposure as you shoot a panoramic, adjusting for lighting shifts on the fly”
Schiller shows a series of photos that they shot with the 5S that “haven’t been touched in anyway”. They’re clearly taken by some pretty darn good photographers, but the photos look great.

“There’s the standard camera application, but then there’s a second one that lets you shoot videos like this..” [Phil plays a video of a man diving into a pool in Slo-Mo"]
The SloMo app can shoot HD video (720P) at 120 frames per second

The 5S also does auto-image stabilization; it takes multiple photos at once, and combines the sharpest parts of each image
25 MINUTES AGO
Phil compares a photo taken with a standard flash, versus their own hybrid-flash photo.
The flash in the iPhone 5S has two LEDs — one white, one amber. It analyzes the lighting in the room, adjusting the color of the flash accordingly.

“Let me give you an example of some of the things our new camera app does for you. Before you even take a picture, it’s setting light balance, and exposure. For the first time, it’s creating a dynamic local tone map around the image. For the first time, it’s doing autofucs matrix metering with 15 focus zones. When you do take a picture, it automatically finds the sharpest of multiple pictures”
“Our competitors would’ve just packed more pixels on that. Thats not what we do. We know a secret: bigger pixels = better pictures. Our sensor has 1.5 micron pixels.”
“We have some huge advancements in iPhone technology that allow for just that. It has a larger, f/2.2 aperture. It’s got a new, 15% larger active sensor area”
“It used to be that if you wanted to take better pictures, you’d have to learn to be a better photographer… Most of us just want to take a picture.”
“Second, the camera system. People love taking photos with the iPhone. We wanted to make it even better at taking pictures.”

Phil Schiller comes back to the stage.
“But that’s not all! We have a new chip called the M7 that works along with the A7.”
The M7 is a ‘motion processor’

“You’ve heard a lot about iOS 7, but what we haven’t told you is that its been completely engineed for 64 bit at the same time. It’s got a new 64-bit kernel, libraries, and drivers. All built-in apps have been reengineered. It’s a seamless dev transition, with full backwards compatibility. “

“Today, we’re going to see that Apple will move the mobile computing world from 32-bit to 64-bit in one day.”
“The iPhone 5S is a huge leap forward in mobile computing performance. It starts with a brand new system on a chip called the A7. A7 is 64-bit, the world’s first and only such CPU in a smartphone.”
“Before, performance meant big CPUs and big graphics card and big fans. Thank goodness we’ve moved past that”

“This is iPhone 5S.”
A video plays showing swirling liquid flying about, coming together to form the rumored gold iPhone 5S.
“This is what it looks like…” [Phil cuts to another video...]
“The 5S is the most forward thinking of our devices; in fact, it might be the most forward-thinking device ever”
“Thats the first of our new devices. The second is called the iPhone 5S’
43 MINUTES AGO
“I think it’s remarkable how something can feel familiar, but be new at the same time. That’s the iPhone 5C”
The video is now just touching on how iOS 7 runs on the 5C.
“This is just an example of how we design and build our products in concert.”

Each case has holes cut out, allowing a bit of the phone’s original color to pop through.
As rumored, each device comes with color-matched wall paper
AN HOUR AGO
“This is the iPhone 5C, and it’s really</em stunning. The entire back and sides are made from a single part, its front one glass, multi-touch surface. As close as you look, you wont see joints or seams"
“Which is great! That means people are excited about it. But you haven’t seen it like this.” [Phil Cuts to a promo video for the 5C"]
“The iPhone 5C has an incredible new design, one that’s more fun and colorful than any design we’ve done before. A few of you might have seen it around the web [audience laughs]“

“Business has become so large… we’re going to replace the iPhone 5 with not one, but two new designs”
“This year, we’re not going to do that.”
“A year ago, we launch iPhone 5. Customers loved [everything about it.] The iPhone 5 helped us take our business to an entirely new level. In the past, when we announced a new price, we lowed the price of the current iphone, making it even more accessible.”
“Now I’d like to talk about iPhone. A couple of you may have been expecting this…”
All free on any new iPad, iPhone or 5th gen iPod touch.
“When you’re setting up your new iOS 7 devices, with one touch: boom — all 5 of these apps (plus some additional ones) are downloaded”
“No other platform has any apps like these. We think that all iOS devices are made even better with these apps, and almost all of our customers want these apps. So today, we’re announcing that we’re making all 5 of these apps free.”
“iPads aren’t great just for consuming content. They’re also great for creating content. We have content like iPhoto, which lets you take your photo editing to the next level. And iMovie, which lets you create movies straight from your iPad”
“And Numbers. Numbers is the best spreadsheet design software anywhere.”

He briefly touches on AirDrop, iOS 7′s one click peer-to-peer file transfer system. Open airdrop on two phones, tap your friend’s photo, and you can share pictures straight to their device.

So far, it’s mostly a recap of the stuff announced at WWDC. Nothing wrong with that, though.
Craig moves onto the new Camera app in iOS 7, including its built-in Instagram-esque filters.
They’re also introducing a bunch of new built-in ringtones and default text tones. The ring tones were very upbeat and techno-y; the text tones sounded straight out of Zelda
AN HOUR AGO
Now we’re moving into changes to Siri, like its new “higher quality male and female voices.”
He asks, “What’s Lady Gaga saying?”, and Siri pulls up her most recent Tweets. Apple hearts Gaga.
He jumps into the changes made into Safari in iOS 7, like its 3D tabbing interface.
“We’ve also made search more convenient than ever before. With iOS 7, you can pull down from anywhere and type what you’re looking for and find it, just like that”

“Our store [in Stanford] has long been overdue for an overhaul. This weekend, we’re launching this store”
Cook comes back to the stage.
“Also, this month, a lot of excitement in retail. As you know, we’ve been expanding our footprint outside of the US. Lately, we’ve been focusing on something closer to home.”
We’re watching a quick video about the iTunes Festival. Swirling stage lights! Cheering crowds! Lots of oontz oontz oontz and boom, boom, boom, then a cut to Lady Gaga doin’ her thing
AN HOUR AGO
20 million people applied for tickets to the iTunes Festival.
“It was like we were launching a product!”
“We had our iTunes festival this month. This is the 7th year we’ve done this festival, and this year was our best one yet…. We had the most incredible lineup of global superstars, and incredible headliners. Lady Gaga opened the festival, performing her new, full-length album before it was available”
“Before we dive in, I’ve got some exciting updates from within the company”
“Welcome! A special welcome to everyone joining us from Berlin, Beijing, and Tokyo this morning”
Tim Cook has taken the stage.
There go the lights! Time to start!
Apple logo on screen.
Al Gore making conversation.
Alright! We’re in, we’ve got power, and we’ve got WiFi. The announcement should start in moments.
People crowding in to the town hall.
We’re in! We’re setting up our gear as I type this
2 HOURS AGO
Tim Cook just bolted into the theater, flanked on all sides by his staff
2 HOURS AGO
Sounds like there won’t be an official live video stream. “If we’re going to do that, we’d generally announce it the morning of”, says an Apple rep
2 HOURS AGO
The waiting area is officially packed. We’re told we should be in the theater within a few minutes.
Oh, and there goes Al Gore. All of these folks are being swept off to some other waiting area.
Ron Conway just arrived, fresh from Disrupt yesterday. Twitter’s Jack Dorsey is also wandering around.
Its almost time! We should be heading in to the theater at around 9:40.
Don’t go towards the light, because that leads back outside.
We’re in… to second staging area.
Badge! Blue!
Final line shot before we head in.
Apple staffers are starting to sit down at the check-in desks. Looks like we should be getting badged up soon!
Lots of people mistakenly posting links to the old WWDC video thinking its the live stream. It’s not. No word on an official stream for today. Be wary of links to “leaked” streams, especially as the event hasn’t started yet and no one is inside the theater.
We’re still outside of another 40 minutes or so, with the announcement scheduled to start at 10 AM Pacific. Much of Apple’s media team has shown up to man the doors, and a few of their execs have poked their heads out from the theater.
I was taking this picture from the road when Mossberg rolled up and pretty much scared the heck out of me leaning on the horn.
Walt Mossberg just rolled up in his car and honked, scaring pretty much every single sleepy person waiting in line.
Greg at work here from the front of the line. Feel the blogger intensity.
We poked around a bit while we waited outside. If I recall, this wall used to be decorated with a gigantic Apple logo. Now it’s a Jobs quote. I’m not sure if it’s here just for today, but it fits with the iOS 7 overhaul pretty well.
“If you do something and it turns out pretty good then you should go do something else wonderful, not dwell on it for too long. Just figure out what’s next”
The line slowly starting to grow. Events on Apple’s campus are traditionally much smaller than those held at Moscone (like WWDC) or the Yerba Buena Center (like a few iPhone announcements have been). The theater on Apple campus only fits around 200 people
4 HOURS AGO
Also while sitting here watching stuff quietly, had plenty of time to do forensics on the sign (invite image above). Note the empty halo circles – looks like those leaks of a lighted halo around the home button we’ve been seeing.
We’re getting lots of questions about whether or not Apple will have an official live video stream, but we haven’t heard anything one way or the other yet. They’d have announced it by now, generally.
Exciting media check-in sign!
The sun is up! Other people are slowly arriving! Alas, it’ll probably be pretty quiet here until at least 9 am Pacific. The event is scheduled to start at 10 AM Pacific.
The Apple Store is down. Surprise*!
[* Note: not actually a surprise.]
Reminder: The event is scheduled to start at 10 AM Pacific, so stick around!
